If you were having trouble with the new site.

I fired up a machine at 1024 X 768. Yeah it was a little tight. I can say I’m glad I don’t use a machine with such a low resolution monitor, but whatever does the job. I squished things about 150 pixels. I think you should be good. I also added obsolete browser detection. That could be an issue. If you see that red line across the top of the screen upgrade.

  1. I’m using 1280X1024 screen and no problemo here.
but why do you red flag me that my V17 fox is “too old” ?
aren’t this site is for good old stuff?
I hardly do any updates on my XP-SP3 system and it works great

  2. Firefox 17 is almost 2 years old. It’s old. It might work. You shouldn’t be running old browsers. You really shouldn’t be running old browsers. Did I mention you shouldn’t be running old browsers? Most of the reason Firefox 17 is now Firefox 19 is security issues. XP is fine. IE8 isn’t, so you’ll need to go with Chrome or Firefox.

If you get flagged… your browser is old… I’m doing you a favor to remind you to keep your browser up to date. Some of the stuff in the new theme might not like old browsers. How old? I don’t know. But I’m removing one technical support issue. I’ll nag you into keeping your browser up to date, so that won’t be an issue when people say “It don’t work”.

Which…. keeping your browser up to date is what you should all be doing anyway. Especially NOBODY should be using IE8. It’s so insecure, it’s computer suicide. When Microsoft says unsupported they mean it.

As an aside, machines that run XP are good candidates for Ubuntu. It’s not Windows, but if you can’t run Windows 7… it is a currently supported OS.
