Long Voyage Home, The (1940)

Working from quartet of Eugene O’Neill plays, John Ford created a hauntingly dark dramatic universe, populated with his usual stock company of players augmented by John Wayne in the role of the naïve Swedish sailor Olsen.

  1. As I watched this, I kept seeing “The Quiet Man”. It seems they brought the entire cast of this movie over.

  2. John Ford always liked hiring people he knew. Even the crew of his movies is a lot the same.

    5 movies with Maureen O’hara:

Rio Grande (1950), The Quiet Man (1952), The Wings of Eagles (1957), McLintock! (1963) and Big Jake (1971).

There is a lot of overlapping cast.
