John Wayne - Angel and the Badman

This is one of my favorite John Wayne Movies. Quirt Evans gets introduced to Quakers, who take him in after he gets shot over a land deal. He likes the Quakers, especially the farmers daughter played by Gail Russell.

Angel and the Badman is a 1947 black and white Western film, starring John Wayne and Gail Russell, which examines the ability of a shootist to renounce violence. This film, which was the first one Wayne produced as well as starred in, was a radical departure for this genre at the time it was released. The film was directed by Wayne’s frequent screenwriter James Edward Grant.

John Wayne is the perfect age in this one…young enough to still be cute and just old enough to be mature. And Gail Russell is very pretty. One thing IS kinda funny about this movie…John Wayne plays this gunman Quirt Evans…and he never shoots anyone!

Great movie!!! Just learned about Gail Russell from this film. I never knew who she was prior to this. What a tragic life. Great acting on both their parts. Love those old movie classics!!!

Sitting alone in Paris on a sunday evening nothing better to do such sweet innocent movies.
the face of Gail russel is heavenly. Where have all those faces gone?
    Not just beauty but innocence.
Well, thanks for the website. I don’t really like watching films anymore but this will do.

I must have missed this one on AMC. If it’s not the best movie here, it’s close.

Had to check out what all the fuss is about Gail Russell.
    Yeah, she is gorgeous.

The music contributed a lot to these films – as well as beautiful women!
