Beneath the 12-Mile Reef is a 1953 adventure film about a family of Greek-American sponge divers and their rival with a family of W.A.S.P divers. The film was made in Tarpon Springs, Florida, a town famous for it’s Greek community. It starred Robert Wagner, Terry Moore and Gilbert Roland.

I really can’t believe how few people watched this movie. It’s one of my favorites.

    This was one great film.
    Excellent quality re-master.
Color was exceptional and the sound was in stereo…not bad considering they didn’t even know what stereo was in ’53.
Incredible underwater shots even by todays standards. Reminds me of a certain French underwater explorer whose name I can’t spell.
Enjoyed the story even though the ending was a little lame.
All in all a very good experience.
Take the time to watch this one. The quality alone is worth it.
Mr A1 Fabulous brings us another good one.
    Thanks Kevin.

    Hi
My name is Patrick & I live in Melbourne Australia. I consider Beneath The 12 Mile Reef one of the best films that I’ve ever seen. It was the 3rd film made in Cinemascope & even to this day one of the best ever in my opinion. However one thing that has puzzled me for all those years – how did they they film the fight with the ( Rubber ) Octopus?
