Der Golem (German: Der Golem, shown in the USA as The Monster of Fate) is a 1915 silent horror film written and directed by Paul Wegener and Henrik Galeen. The film is an original work inspired by ancient Jewish legend. It is the first of three Golem films by Wegener, the others being The Golem and the Dancing Girl (1917) and The Golem: How He Came into the World (1920).
In the modern times, an antique dealer (Henrik Galeen) finds a golem (Paul Wegener), a clay statue brought to life by a Rabbi four centuries earlier. The dealer resurrects the golem to use him as a servant, but the golem falls in love with the dealer’s wife. As she does not return his love, the golem turns to a series of murders.
Sorry. This is the 1920 film, not the 1915. It is my understanding that the 1915 film only exists in bits and pieces. I was hoping you had a even this little fragment. Oh well.
Yep. You’re right. My bad.
