Judge Roy Bean

Judge Roy Bean was a 1956 TV series. It was set in the Texas town of Langtry, named after Lillie Langtry. When storekeeper Roy Bean becomes fed up with the lawlessness in the town, he sets establishes himself as a judge and introduces a system of law and order. The character of Roy Bean was loosely based on the real life Phantly Roy Bean (c. 1825- March 16, 1903). Roy Bean was played by famous “sourdough” Edgar Buchanan.

    Having never seen this show before,a strange role for Edgar to play after seeing him in Petticoat Junction, but then, this is not the “Judge Roy Bean” I’m use to seeing either.
    Good family show.

    I love westerns, I grew up watching westerns and this is probably why I’am such
    a fan today. Modern westerns are okay and I’ll still watch because it is a western,
    however, its nothing like a good old classic one.
    Please retrovision do not stop or change this classic and very interesting site. Since I’ve discovered U I hardly watch any thing else. This type of programming is
    what I’ve been searching for. Thank U.

    Any movie that portrays Judge Roy Bean Is my type of western. I enjoyed watching this one as well.
