Scrooge (1935)

Scrooge is based on Charles Dickens novel “A Christmas Carol”. I think this is one of the better versions of the Charles Dickens classics. This version plays close attention to the Dickens classic and is probably as close as you could get to reading the Dickens novel, while being adapted for the silver screen. It stars Seymour Hicks as Scrooge and Donald Calthrop as the clerk Bob Cratchit.

I think this is the best “A Christmas Carol” movie. At least it’s the closest to the Dicken’s Story.

If you’d like to read “A Christmas Carol” you will find it available as a public domain offering from Project Gutenberg.
