IMDb quotes Evelyn Keyes as saying “I’ve never seen anyone as terrified of directing as Frank McDonald.” Which in some small part may explain the fast-paced action of his movies…that is: get in, direct, and get out!! Submarine Alert (1943) seems no exception. It really speeds along and is a very entertaining home-front-during-war themed film. Also enjoyed Richard Arlen as a headliner! And a nice on-location chase sequence in 1943 downtown Los Angeles.
