US special agent Steve Mitchell (Brian Donlevy) goes after a secret stolen Nazi art cache, the Hapsburg Treasure
The film begins following a moonlit night in the Louisiana Bayou town of Marsh Island as two farmers discover the mauled, dead body of a local resident, an attractive young girl. Sheriff Aaron Whitaker (David Janssen) is called in. The victim’s temperamental brother Lawrence Burrifors (Geoffrey Lewis) arrives at the crime scene and jumps to the conclusion that the girl’s lover committed the murder, a man whose very name her brother does not know. The town’s Dr. Drutan (John Beradino) examines the body and pronounces the girl died of a severe blow to the head caused by a human hand. He tells Sheriff Whitaker, “It looks like you have a murder on your hands.” The sheriff replies, “Just what I needed.”
Dean Stockwell plays a reporter who has has an affair with the daughter of the U.S. President and gets sent to Hungary. He gets bitten by a werewolf. He gets appointed as the press secretary to the President and returns to Washington D.C he becomes the werewolf.
Mary Whitman has arrived in Reno to obtain a divorce. While there, she is arrested on suspicion of murdering a fellow guest at her hotel (which specializes in divorcers).
Movie star Shelah Fayne is making a picture on location in Honolulu, Hawaii. She summons mystic adviser Tarneverro from Hollywood to help her decide whether to marry wealthy Alan Jaynes, a man she has only known for a week. Her friend Julie O’Neil worries, however, that the famous psychic has too much influence over her. Meanwhile, Julie has fallen in love herself with local publicity director Jimmy Bradshaw.
Charlie Chan is brought in when an archaeologist disappears while excavating ancient art treasures in Egypt. Charlie must sort out the stories of the archaeological team, deal with the crazed son of the missing scientist, learn why priceless treasures are falling into the hands of private collectors, and battle many seemingly supernatural events.
I haven’t been in the mood to sit down and watch this movie, but I finally got there. This movie has really good production values for it’s genre and time.
