Using the pi to update your IP address

Here's how you can set your Raspberry Pi to automatically update your ip with Dyn.

sudo su

apt-get install inadyn

You need to run the Dyn Configurator and put the contents in /etc/inadyn.conf.  The output of the dyn configurator looks like this for this machine:echo inadyn > /etc/init.d/inadyn

chmod +x /etc/init.d/inadyn
sudo update-rc.d inadyn defaults

## inadyn configuration file
update_period_sec 600 # Check for a new IP every 600 seconds
# DynDNS username and password here
username ##YOURDYNUSERNAME##
password ##YOUR PASSWORD##
dyndns_system dyndns@dyndns.org
## Dynamic DNS hosts
alias raspberry-pi.dyndns-server.com

You need to start inadyn at boot.

echo inadyn > /etc/init.d/inadyn

chmod +x /etc/init.d/inadyn
sudo update-rc.d inadyn defaults

You'll get a warning.  Ignore it.  Nothing is perfect.

Reboot.
