Star Trek – The Animated Series (1973-74)

Star Trek – The Animated Series was produced by Filmation in association with Paramount Television and ran for two seasons from 1973 to 1974 on NBC, airing a total of twenty-two half-hour episodes. An early Filmation proposal for this series had children assigned to each of the senior officers as cadets, including a young Vulcan for Mr. Spock. According to interviews with Norm Prescott, Paramount offered Roddenberry a substantial sum of money to abandon creative control of the project and let Filmation proceed with their “kiddy space cadet” idea. Roddenberry refused. Filmation would later develop the idea into its own original live action program, Space Academy, in 1977.

    1. Kevin, It’s interesting to note that you put up one of the S.T. episodes that dealt with reversing the aging process. I’m going to assume you’re not aware of the fact that these have been several research papers written dealing with this topic. 1. Genetics: Two researchers stumbled upon a discovery that will allow us to live 2 to 3 times as long as normal. 2. Two Japanese researchers have found a way to lengthen the telomeres of each cell which would effectively double our lifespans while reversing the aging process in most cellular tissues.
      So, let’s do the math … 76 times 2 = 152 times 2 = 304 … and, possibly, 76 times 3 = 228 times 2 = 456 … AND, if you drink one thing daily, you could possibly add 40 years to those numbers ! And, look and feel young as well !! — JT —
