Sante Fe Trail (1940)

Sante Fe Trail is a 1940 movie starring Errol Flynn, Ronald Reagan and Olivia de Havilland. The movie details the conflicts that puts the north and south at odds prior to the civil war. It paints abolitionist John Brown as a terrorist madman who was willing to destroy the Union. It isn’t historically accurate in that Jeb Brown and George Custer never knew each other. It shows the historically accurate mixed reactions by slaves. Some of the former slaves rejoiced at their freedom, for others the results of that reality were pretty devastating.

It great to have a channel you can watch the movie classics on. I find that the mives of today are basically meaningless and forgetful because the actors and actresses of today are themselves baseless. they don’t provide memorable and defining roles to their careers a lot of them, but none can equal Errol Flynn, John Wayne, Ronald Regan, Olivia DeHaviland and a host of others that made the theater what it is today and transends the movies of the current times. Thanks for the memories!
